How Much Do Sunrooms Cost?
Do you want to improve the appearance and value of your home without knocking down walls and create a big upheaval? One simple and worthwhile way to do this is to add a sunroom onto your home.
A sunroom can be added on to your home attached to the back, the front or even the side. It looks nice because its walls are made of glass and therefore do not have to be carefully designed to match the exterior of the rest of the house.
Having a sunroom gives you added living space in your house without getting into a major interior remodeling fiasco. As a matter of fact, depending on the design you choose you may not have to make any alterations to your existing home at all!
So there is no question that a sunroom is a relatively inexpensive way to add onto your house. Without the costs of remodeling and materials the cost will be much less than a normal type of extension. But how much do sunrooms cost?
The trick to finding out the answer to this question is the same as with finding the cost for anything. There are so many different types of sunrooms you can choose. Many of the details of what you want to build will have a big impact on how much sunrooms cost.
If you want your sunroom to be large and open and similar in size and function to your living room you will pay more. If you want it to be tall or have an intricate gabled roof or hipped roof you will certainly pay more for that.
The least expensive sunrooms will be those that are rather small, more like a large porch than a small living room. A less expensive option for a roof is a single sloped roof. This is a much simpler, but still effective style of roof.
You wont be able to simply look up online or call for a quote to find out how much sunrooms cost. Especially if you plan to have the room custom designed and built for you, you will need to have a consultation and most likely someone will need to come and look at your home and find out what you want before he can give you an estimate.
However, there is another much easier option which is to purchase a sunroom kit. These do have set prices which you can easily look into. All of the building materials will be sent to you and you build the sunroom yourself according to the instructions provided. This type of sunroom will certainly be less expensive, as you will do the labor yourself and the materials are ready prepared rather than custom made.
If you want to make a significant change to your home without spending too much money you will find that sunrooms cost a moderate amount of money and are worth it. In the end they will add value to your home in terms of sale price, but also in terms of the satisfaction you have living there.
